If God does, then why does he?! Does he know how much it hurts that person?!?! And this isn't a disease that you can get sexually or by drinking something, it is in the brain.

Well since God created everything, he created all the diseases. Because God is all powerful, then God gives the person the disease. However, if God did not give the person the disease, since he is all knowing then he would know that the devil would give you the disease and do nothing about that. Either way kind of sounds like God is a jerk.

According to the Book of Job, the answer to your question would be both (see Job 2:1-10; John 9:1-3; and, Romans 8:18-38).

Why does God allow suffering? You are asking a deep question that people have debated for centuries. To give a summary would take too long to post here, so I will give you some links to get you started:

People aren't perfect => they get sick, old and die. The Bible says God is love and that the ruler of this world is Satan (2Corinthians 4:4).
People should stop blaming God for all the bad things that happen in this world. Two ex-school mates (twins) of mine died this week in a car accident. They were so young. Is it God's fault? No, it isn't. the Bible also says that everything depends on time and circumstances. There is no destiny. The Bible says that soon God will change things. I hold on to that hope."And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."-Revelation 21:4

God gives people diseases. The Devil might be the one who tries to convince God to do such a thing, but it is God's decision and God is perfect so it is a perfect decision. God gave each person the gift of life and has the right to take it back or hinder it. We can't explain why bad things happen to people, but we can't really explain God either. We simply must understand that God does what is best and we do not know best. He knows best. That's a Jewish opinion.

The Devil.
1 John 5:19 holds him respopnsible for all the bad.
James 1:13 says God is not part of that picture.

Gods do not make diseases nor does the devil. Diseases develop just like any other life form. As do parasites, fungi, algae and other such things that cause illness.

interestingly enough man created the "devil" as well as "god"

the only proof today is the Gov't allowing asbestos and raydon, or other EPA violations into our water and foods, giving us diseases

now that you have facts, I doubt you will actually go and fix it

some think the US is "god's" chosen nation and we can't dare go after a nation or gov't that says "god" in pledge or prayers to defeat unbelieving people and dominate the world as in O. Testament stories of Israel

Theists may argue that Satan gives people diseases, but God, being all-powerful, must allow it, or it wouldn't happen.
