is surfboarding fun and is it safe?

You have a better chance of being killed by a coconut falling on your head than a shark (I heard) The most dangerous thing in the ocean in your board and other surfers. Give it a shot, once you catch the stoke you'll be hooked. Just remember if you fall off cover your head and NEVER bail your board you'll be good.

You have very little worry about with sharks.
The media has greatly exaggerated the shark attacks. I've been surfing 38 years. Seen plenty of sharks surfing in different countries. Don't paddle out right before daybreak or at dusk. Paddle in if you see fishes on the surface all bunched together, fishball. You'll be just fine. Watch what other surfers are doing. hell ya its fun, its such a good rush too! i luv it, its a good way to relieve stress. Dont worry about the sharks they wont bother u they usually dont come around people to much, its rare when they do come around, but if one does u shouldnt panic and just get out of the water and go back in once it leaves. If you think about them to much u will psych yourself out and thats not good. just paddle out with a friend and have a good time! good luck!

You should be more afraid of getting knocked out by a wave and drowning. You should also be afraid of people laughing at you until you actually get good enough to ride a descent wave.

sharks don't surf so there shouldn't be any reason to be scared, fear without reason is irrational, there's a cure for that

well round oc there arent really a shark issue... but i think every sport is risky if you think about it..
