Macaroni salad is usually a cold dish, some people add some shredded cheese, but I've never heard of tomato sauce on mac salad.

Boil macaroni, rinse in strainer in cold water until cold. Mix mayo and desired amount of lemon juice until smooth, and mix into macaroni. Add salt and pepper. Some add chopped celery, black olives, pimento, onions, even eggs, and shredded cheddar (some of those ingredients, usually not all).

It should only take about 15 minutes or so to make. Just boil the pasta until it's cooked, in the meantime, simmer the tomato sauce in another pan. When the pasta is done , just combine them, add the cheese on top and you're done. It's almost like goulash without the meat. It should last at least a few days in the refrigerator.

The noodles need to boil for at least 5 minutes(if you boil the noodles anymore than 5 mins. and bake it, they will fall apart, if you don't bake it, then up to 10 mins.). Drain. If you decide to bake it, take a glass or metal baking dish(coat with a little oil to prevent sticking and easier cleanup) and dump the noodles in it. Take the sauce and the cheese and mix it together with the noodles(stop here if you aren't baking it). Take a bit of extra cheese and sprinkle on top if you like. Bake for about 10-15 mins or until the cheese is slightly browned and the sauce is bubbly. Usually can store in fridge for about a week.

I've never made macaroni salad with tomato sauce. My version uses cooked macaroni, diced onion, diced celery, diced red pepper, cubed carrots, small pieces of cheese and lite mayo. I can keep it around for 2 -3 days, but it is usually all gone by the end of the 2nd day.

It doesn't take very long at all to make. Just boil your noodles and chopped your veggies--I fry bacon, but you can use the already cooked.

Boiled Macaroni noodles
Crumbled fried crisp bacon
Chopped green onions
Chopped bell pepper
Shredded chedder cheese
mayo to your taste
salt/pepper to taste
