A radiologist is the doctor who interprets the exams, whether it be plain x-rays, CT scans, MRI's, etc. The technician is the person performing the exam for the radiologist to "read". A radiology tech usually starts out around 18.00 and hour. It's a great job, because there are so many different modalities to choose from, including the above I already mentioned, but also ultrasound and mammography. It can be a difficult job, though, with elderly patients and overweight patients, etc. And not all patients are able to cooperate. It takes 2 years for a regular tech (plain films, etc), and usually an additional 2 years if you specialize in ultrasound, MRI, CT, etc. You can also venture into nuclear medicine, which is where the bone scans, etc., come into play. Radiology is a great field.

Radiologists take X-Ray pictures.

This is what I found about the qualifications

The current UK National Qualification for Diagnostic Radiographers is a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.

I think that you would need to know the basics of mathematics, biology and physics to be allowed onto such a course.
