.....any different than his command for people to not have sex before marriage?

the reason i ask is because that while a huge part of the christian church cannot admit that homosexuality as a sin is suspect, a huge part of christians set aside the whole "no one can have sex before marraige" thing becuase they know in their heart that god couldn't care less if two responsible adults make love.

are the commands any different?

God didn't seem to care about Lot getting drunk and sleeping with his daughters. Lot was called righteous!

God didn't care that Lot offered his daughters to be raped by the people of Sodom, only that they didn't touch the male vistors. Lot was called righteous and saved for this deed.

David, Solomon and Saul had hundreds of wives (and prostitutes) and still committed adultry. They were God's best chosen men.

The first thing Noah did after getting off the ark was get hammered drunk and pass out naked. Then he cursed his Grandson because of something his son did. And he was the greatest man saved by God.

I don't think God has a very good track record on what is good or bad with regard to sex or anything else.

Seriously, doesn't that guy have more to worry about then what people do in their bedrooms? What a pervert Christians make their god out to be.

You lie, there, dude.
God does care that two "adults" have sex before marriage.
Here's God's method: female + male meet, acquire emotional involvement in each other, marry, procreate. They remain married (Malachi 2:16, God hates divorce) so that the children born of the sex they have grow up with a mother and a father. Accidents are one thing, but to make the child an orphan while a parent still lives is, in a word, sinful.
Thus, God opposes ALL efforts to use His method to circumvent His purpose. Homosexual sex, premarital sex, extra-marital sex, instead-of-marital sex, bank robbing, it's all sin. That a culture focuses on one never means the others are not.
Christians don't "set aside" adultery. The popular culture sets aside adultery, and homosexuality. When someone protests promotion of homosexuality, say, in a public school where their child is being taught, the weird response is a kind of, "How dare you oppose another human being!" For some reason, no one is allowed to tell a homosexual that he's wrong. Thus, you hear the noise about that one. But there are equally, if not more so because of its frequency, injunctions against adultery. Listen carefully.

I am 20 and have never had sex and I know lots of Christians whom have sustained until marriage. We look at it as the same thing really. In church it is taught thoroughly to sustain from having sex before marriage. The reason given is that in having sex before marriage you not only risk catching and or spreading an STD, and getting a girl pregnant. You also end up with a mountain of regrets.

I know there is protection but you would be surprised how useless those things are.

Our souls join as one if you will once committing the act. Thus, when you just go from partner to partner you rip your soul up. You leave a piece of you with that other person. Soul tied is what I think it is called.

Besides. If you are a man and you find the women that you want to be with for the rest of your life. And you find out she has slept with more then ten men before meeting you. What kind of feelings are you gonna feel? Or visa versa.

Yeah. I cannot wait to get married with a girl who has had six different men do the nasty with her. (right)

And before I move on. It is an individuals choice on all of these subjects. Just because one believe decides to be lax and go out and do whatever does not mean we are all like that.

Helio,
My take on your question is when two people have intercourse
they are consenting be it hetero or homosexual, however the
deal is this, when you have sex you at that moment become one flesh/ one spirit, good, bad, or indifferent the act is not to be taken lightly but more than often it is no more than spent seed, in which some become infected with disease, victims of crimes of passion, and trapped in marriages due to unwanted pregnancies. The commands are the same for all because mankind has its flaws we are not as responsible as we pretend
if we were then you would not have had to ask your question

Here is one sentence for you, the Bible was written and composed by humans, not a God or any other being, but by corrupt humans looking to control the minds of people.
It obviously has succeeded as the weak minded still think that the Bible has any bearing in life.
Since the Bible does state the homosexuality is bad, but then you can actually kill someone for working on a Sunday (Exodus 35:2), what do you think about that? Or that you can sell your daughter into slavery (Exodus 21:7). Tattoos are totally out Lev 19:28, and the list can go on and on.
Christians pick out what they want and ignore the stuff that contradicts. They lack the ability to think for themselves and need someone back when they thought that the earth was flat and earthquakes were caused by God and lightning as well to tell them what to do.

God destroyed the two cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because of their perversion. As a matter of fact the word sodomy comes from one of those cities.
That a look also at what type of society we have created by people just living together and having recreational sex outside of the marriage arrangment!

Both commands are equally important. The Bible also advises against gluttony (overeating), wearing tattoos, pornography, drunkeness, adultery, and polluting one's body (smoking, drugs, etc.). A lot of Christians overlook these commands as well.

If there is a god, with the whole of the universe to worry about why would he have the slightest interest in anyone's sex life?

I do not believe God is an anthropomorphic being. So the answer to you question, in my opinion only, is no there isn't any difference. Social acceptance creates the difference.

According to the Bible, homosexuality is a sin. Read in the New Testament...... Romans, Chapter 1, starting in verse 18.
