There are several free sources to locate both college scholarships and financial aid. These methods are free to use and locate scholarships, too. However, it takes time.

First, fill out the FAFSA form because it will tap into need based financial aid from the state and federal governments along with the college itself. It is based on both family income and family financial resources.

Second, use Google.com and Yahoo.com to search for state college grants in general and your major.

Third, the high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships for its current high school students to apply for consideration.

Fourth, the college financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes an individual college major will list scholarships, too.

Fifth, the local public library has a book listing scholarships, and some of these are not located on the web.

Finally, search Google.com and Yahoo.com for scholarships based on your college major, ethnicity, race, and religion. Also try searching for scholarships from major companies.

Good luck!
