I belive that a person is sent back to earth over and over again to learn the lessons that we did not learn in a previous life. Is this a common belief? The book, "Many lives, many masters" by Dr. Brian Weiss really opened my eyes to the possibilties of previous lives. Were most of our deep fears from previous life experiences, and do you meet the same people over and over again. Is that why you feel such a strong conection to some people immediatly and experience deja vu when you see something for the first time? Is there an end to coming back once you have learned all of your lessons? Do we each have a spiritual guide, someone that leads you through all of your lessons/lives? Is this a common belief? I would like to know if there are other people that feel the same way about "the next life"

I don't think that it is a way to "Put off" reconciliation with god. I have nothing agianst religion, but do believe that there are more to life than just going to heaven or hell. What if heaven is coming back to live more fully than you have before, and to love more deeply that before. What if it is your second chance to do right everything that you had done wrong the last time round, you get your chance to fix your karma. What if your Hell is having to come back and repeat your mistakes. Having to come back and be hurt by everyone you hurt previously. I think you come back over and over again until you get it right. You come back until you can correct your karma. There are many things that still can not be explained by "modern science" but if we already knew everything, than we would know how to "learn" now would we...

The details of what you are talking about vary from person to person (i.e. déjà vu, spirit guides, etc.), but many, MANY people from different religions believe in reincarnation, myself included.
I'd love to discuss our similar feelings on this, as well as our conflicting beliefs, if you'd like to contact me.
Perhaps we can each teach each other something. :)

There are many problems with the salvation-by works doctrine of reincarnation. First, there are many practical problems. For example:
1. We must ask, why does one get punished for something he or she cannot remember having done in a previous life?
2. If the purpose of karma is to rid humanity of its selfish desires, then why hasn't there been a noticeable improvement in human nature after all the millennia of reincarnations?
3. If reincarnation and the law of karma are so beneficial on a practical level, then how do advocates of this doctrine explain the immense and ever-worsening social and economic problems - including widespread poverty, starvation, disease, and horrible suffering - in India, where reincarnation has been systematically taught through out its history?
There are also many biblical problems with believing in reincarnation. For example, in 2 Corinthians 5:8 the apostle Paul states, "We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord." At death, the, the Christian immediately goes into the presence of the Lord, not into another body. In keeping with this. Luke 16:19-31 tells us that unbelievers at death go to a place of suffering, not into another body.
Further, Hebrews 9:27 assures us that "man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment." Each human being LIVES ONCE as a mortal on earth, DIES ONCE, and then FACES JUDGMENT. He does not have a second chance by reincarnating into another body.

I believe exactly the same, and it's mentioned in the bible too.
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed. (1 Cor. 15:51)
For all the prophets and the law have prophesied until John. And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who was to come. (Matt. 11:13-14)
And the disciples asked him, saying, "Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?"
But he answered them and said, "Elijah indeed is to come and will restore all things. But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him, but did to him whatever they wished. So also shall the Son of Man suffer at their hand."
Then the disciples understood that he had spoken of John the Baptist." (Matt. 17:10-13)

Absolutely! Somedays I have to wonder though... 'What the hell did I do to deserve THIS today?'
But seriously, some things come so natural to us without any real training in them, that it really makes you think you must have experienced them in another lifetime.

No, I don't believe in reincarnation. The Bible says "It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment". And there is not second chance to come back to learn lessons that we didn't previously learn. If you have never accepted Christ as your Saviour for forgiveness of sins I encourage you to do that because you will not have another opportunity if you die in your sins. If you die in your sins there will be nothing in eternity except the torment of hell. But if you accept Christ as your Saviour you will be with Him in eternity where there will be no suffering but eternal bliss.

That is a great man-made idea, but what proof do you have? You just want that to happen, but there is not a shred of evidence that there is any kind of afterlife. We most likely will die and that is it, because when you think about it scientifically, the mind and body living together create what you call the "spirit", and once we die, that spark of life is gone.

I don't believe in souls (we're just a set of chemical reactions) so when we die we just... die. We don't go anywhere and we aren't reincarnated.
Do you know anything about DNA? Genetics? Every person ever born is unique and different from every other person ever born. (Same with twins and triplets and quads, etc.... yes.)

I know lots of people who believe in it. Past life regression is when you have a very realistic dream about something that you experienced from a past life, according to them.
