I'd keep it on puppy food until it is a year old. I love eukanuba dog food, but it is expensive.

VERY, VERY IMPORTANT.....Do NOT feed a Dane puppy puppy food of any kind including large breed. The protein levels are way too high. A Dane should not have a protein level over 24%.Anything over this can cause some very serious growth problems.
Also stay away from foods containing corn, wheat, soy, beet pulp..very important for all breeds/mixes but especially so for Danes. Soy can cause excess gas which is a big problem in breeds such as the Dane that are prone to bloat. Corn and wheat are no more then cheap fillers and high allergens. They also don't offer digestability or proper digestion. Beet pulp is of no value at all except as a filler and only serves to add un-necassary sugar to the diet.
Foods such as Science Diet, IAMS/Eukanuba, Pedigree, Purina Dog Chow and other such brands aren't appropriate foods for a Dane..look for good quality foods such as Innova, Solid Gold, Eagle Pack,Chicken Soup for the dog lover's soul adult formula or adult large breed formula, canidae just to name a few.
Canidae, Chicken Soup and Innova are some of the top choices for a Dane.

Yes Large Breed Puppy Food by Nutro would be your best bet. I own a bernese mountain dog and that is what I would reccomend. I would also start to feed your dog adult food when he is about 11 month of age.(vet reccomended)
