Once I considered adopting a dog. The thought occurred: "The Holy Spirit wants me to have this dog," and so I adopted him. Any similar happenings in your life?

Well, I spent several months in discernment and contemplation and prayer on whether I should marry, and ultimately, one night, the Spirit spoke, not really spoke in the way that I heard it with my ears, but in that the notion that I should marry my then-girlfriend became as clear as fact.
I've also felt, on numerous ocassions, that I should talk with people just to talk to them, and generally they've needed someone to talk to. One actually confessed that she had had an affair on her husband years before. I believe that the Spirit needed me there to be Christ to her, to help her heal and find peace and to know Christ's love was with her, and encourage her to repentance.

I don't know about the adoption of a dog as instructions from The Holy Spirit. But the Holy Spirit has moved me to speak with authority I didn't know I had to others about Christ. Those people have returned to me at later times and told be I have strengthened their faith by what I said. I some times can't remember what it was exactly what it was that I said but the Holy Spirit speaking to them threw me. So I claim no authority of the words but give all glory to God.
I choose to let the Holy Spirit guide me in what I say. If I don't know about a topic I will not give anything but my thought on it. If my thought helps someone the Holy Spirit has done it, not me.

The thing to remeber is that sometimes the Holy Spirit will guide specifics like yours, but most of the time it will be more like the answer above mine.
Mostly the Holy Spirit has guided me to talk to certain people, whether online or in person. Like yesterday night I was looking for my friend on Xanga, and I found this girl who was in need of a bit of witnessing, so I told her about Christ. Stuff Like that.
Oh! Also, Sometimes when I talk at my School's Student Ministry (Where I am A Leader) I can't remember what I've said. I'm convinced that the Holy Spirit was guiding my speech in those instances.

The Holy Spirit has guided me in many things in my life, and I don't know what I would do with out it.
I believe the angels directed me in getting my dog also, so I know what you mean.

Yes many times but here a example i don't like to go to the hospital but on this day i was really sick and something kept tell to get up and go. i went at the same time my grandmother was in the hospital to make a long story short she past away while i was in the hospital heard them say own last name and code red half of my family was there b/c of me and half on them past out when they heard the news and i blank out if we was home something else bad could have happen it was five of us hospitalize that day. Holy spirit do guide if you listen to it

Yes and I am striving for accepting the guidance available and offered from the Holy Spirit more and more.
One of the best ways to distinguish if God is talking to you or you are trying to convince your self about something is this. When you are talking to yourself you will say "I need to ..." and when God is talking to you He will either use your name or say "you need to or you should do ..." when giving you instruction or direction in your life.

Sure, lots of "this is true" or "this isn't" or "yes that's a good choice" or "bad idea, you shouldn't do that."
I can't say I've ever had that about adopting a dog though - but that's okay.
