You can live in the outskirts of NYC in a tiny shared apartment for 250-800 bucks a month, depending on how far outside the main attractions it is.

Although apartments are extremely pricey, you don't need money to enjoy being in NYC. People watching is the best in the stores and parks of the city.

NYC isn't bad if you're not rich, you just better be more creative! When going out and drinks are around 12-14 bucks, and show tickets could cost most of your rent, you find better things to do.

I've been here 7 years. I am not rich. If you love action, people, a thousand things to do any time of day, it's great. If you want a slower, more relaxing pace...look elsewhere.

Or Jewish... It doesn't matter, living in NYC is pure hell unless one is either a roach or a rat. NYC stinks!
