This could be interesting.... however, make your recording choices wisely. Some things should never be smelled once let alone revisited on walks down memory lane.
On a side note... My family went to Disneyland last summer and purchased some souvenir hats. The bag was that held our purchase was found waded up in a camera bag last week and when I pulled it out, the smell hit me.
No joke - it smelled like Disneyland. It was this summery, cotton candy, princessy smell you would recognise immediately if you ever experienced it once. My daughter and I instantly felt as if teleportation were a reality. The snow outside went away and we were on vacation for about 30 seconds.
Smell cameras just might be a real cool thing if it doesn't get into the wrong hands. Ha ha

Sure. They already have smell sensing devices. Have you ever seen the guys from the gas company driving around with those funnels hanging down from their bumper? They have a sniffer of some kind looking for that gas smell to find a leak. If a chemical can be analyzed by sticking it in a box - which it can - I imagine it could be either stored or recreated somehow. Maybe we are talking YEARS in the future, but a couple hundred years ago, nobody thought they could record a light image on film, let alone a sensor.
Hey, they don't squeeze any oranges to make "orange" scented Scratch-n-Sniffs!

Probably. It might have an identification program that can tell exactly what you're smelling, then recreate that smell when you put in the right ingredients.

In the future, they'll be able to do anything. I'm sure they have technology that can store millions of odors and mix them to create a specific odor.

Who knows. Probably. The japanese have already invented a way to capture the smell of something and preserve it.

Yes. But there's good reason not to.
I'm not sure how. But it is possible.
