alot of drugstore hair dyes(and even some proffesional ones) don't use bleach. bleach pushes past the red tones. I have had a similar problem and the only way to fix it is to go to a salon and spend some real money.

if you have dark hair its gonna have red tones in it because the base of dark hair is red, but the base of light hair is green or blue (thats y blonde hair turns green in the chemical water)

Use hair color that has "ash" in its description like ash brown or ash blonde.

are they natural or fake?
If they are natural, you could dye your hair the color it already is, underneath the reddish tones.
If its fake, strip your hair of its color. (go to your hair salon and ask them to do this)
