What are some major differences between the US and less wasteful countries?

What are the differences between the US (the most wasteful country in the world, or so I've heard) and less wasteful countries? What modern country is the least wasteful? What can the US citizens do to be more like that country?

Roman, you forgot also that guys who care are considered "gay". I guess it's also ego too.

Well I dont live in the least wasteful country by no means ( Canada ) but in my city and many others we have to recycle our garbage. Its not like where other place you choose to recycle. We dont use blue boxes. We have to use coloured bags. We use see through green garbages bags for all of our organic materials ie. compost. The city uses the composted materials in the city parks and flower bed etc. Our plastic and paper goes into a see through blue garbage bag and goes to a depot to be recycled. The non recyclable materials go into a clear bag and then go to the landfill. If you dont abide by this you will be fined.

Another example is paying a deposit on your bottles and glass jars. This entices people to recycle, which makes sense

Excellent question. If the US government made gas about the same price it is in most of the rest of the developed world, 6 to $7 per gallon, probably would help some. And also bring in much needed money to stop the US government debt and liabilities from going out of control. Meanwhile, each of us should try to waste as little as we can.

We do everything in excess. Recycling only precious metals. I see so much trash on the side of the road. I hate people that litter the roads.

Americans are heartless and don't care for one another. They sue each other lickity split whenever they can. Anyone who cares about anything is immediately labeled "weird" and laughed at or considered dangerous and avoided.
