Is claiming that we know what God really said who he is or where we really came from kind of arrogant on our part and disrespectful to our creator?, you know "Man creating God in his own image....??"

The bible says to worship nothing but the creator (page one i beleive), but the bible or any religious text is not our creator... just a sets of doctrines

Why would our creator give us a road map when he could program us with GPS?

I guess what im really getting at is ... If we were created and not some random act, do you think our creator would have given us a more sophisticated method of guidance than a book??

very funny but according to the bible jesus was not the creator but the son of the creator, and even if he did write his teachings in his PDA i think his words still would have been twisted by power hungary leaders.

And why does everyone assume i haven't read the bible? Or that i am lost and not in touch with my spirituality? I happen to have a great deal of respect for the entity that created us, so much in fact I dont pretend to know all the answers...thats why I asked a question, to get input not judged.

About Free will....
Some would argue that you can program free will. Free will can be looked at as calculation based on past experience along with what has been "hard coded" into us (in humans we can call these morals or instincts). For example programs can execute random commands, generate random lines of code, and even beat us at chess by making better decisions than us....I am not saying that I think we are completely programmed per se, but humans were around long before religion, Jesus, Mohammed, and books...what do you think guided them.

i guess if one worshiped a book it would be considered idolatry however.... the book is respected but if mine were destroyed - i would be heartbroken because of the information, notes and such but it's only a book. the words a the road map needed when our GPS (as you cutely put it) goes haywire when the satellites are out of sink or there is a thunderstorm or other freak of nature (aka evil, satan, lust, human pride/nature ; )

This is a valid question. I have an analogy using GPS. Say you have the GPS system in a car but you don't know what it's there for. It is just a box. You can drive the car anywhere, get around where you wanna go but its a struggle because your not good at finding your way around. Then one day you have a passenger in your car and your friend says why don't you use the GPS? And you say, what is the GPS? And your friend shows you how to use it and then you know. After you know that it is a system to give you direction then it makes sense to you and you learn more about it as time goes by. The bible is kind of like that. We can be Christian (driving through life) without a bible and still get around, but the Bible , once we know that its our guidance system and learn to use it, makes more sense to use it. It wouldn't be of any use to anyone who doesn't drive either. So people who aren't Christians wouldn't understand it, unless they were in the same vehicle with the same GPS system. The Bible is very sophisticated once you understand that it is inspired by God.
I know that this is just a poorly written analogy, but it's the best I can do without writing dozens of more details.

I never heard of anyone worshiipping a Bible. The other answerer H o got it right, if we were pre programmed , theres no free will on our part. By having a road map, we have a choice to go our way or God's way. Even common sense shows that such verses like " you reap what you sow" and " do to others as u want them to do to you" pay off in a positive way for us. You have the right to think it's all hogwash, but the bible is still the most popular book ever produced, even though it has had the most enemies opposed to it. It still has valuable information that is relevant for people today.

Idolatry means which you're worshipping something which you put in place of God or until now God. Bible worship, in a twisted way, might desire to be considered idolatry if the guy analyzing became not donig it for the main suitable reason (to look righteous, to make money off of the Bible, to not glorify God). fairly, it boils right down to private reason.

People, do you see what happens when someone thinks they know what they are talking about, but in reality has no clue. Take this person. Yes, the one who wrote this question. She is completely in the dark, but nonetheless feels quite confident in spouting off with this dribble.

She has no idea what is on the first page of the Bible because she doesn't read the Bible. Too bad for her, as therein lies the truth she is searching for.

Lets all help this poor child of God with our prayers in hopes that she will one day find out the promises of God.><>

Bible worship isn't idolatry -- it's ignorance.

Yes, if there were indeed some magic sky-guy who knows all and had a plan for people that he wanted them to follow, he should have done a lot better than leave a book that is horribly inconsistent, terribly self-contradictory, full of absolute provable falsehoods, and is so vague in other things that there are thousands of interpretations, all of which are equally valid. If you believe in a god that left "the bible" as the guide to living your life, I feel sorry for you -- that kind of god must be tripping over the clouds, leaving his divine robes on the floor, and making a mess of everything...'cause he's not very smart or organized. :)

Our creator gave us free will to follow His rules or not to follow His rules. FREE CHOICE !

Man did not create God silly, God created man.

And its not worshipping the Bible, its worshipping the one who inspired the Bible.

The Bible is not just some book, its the "HOLY" Bible. And it is a wonderful book, full of very wonderful things. You should read it sometime instead of just guessing about what your saying.

Have a great New Year & God Bless you !

Human creation is neither random nor god-given; it is a result of evolution, which is not random: it is directed by natural selection. There is no point in any sort of belief in god, as it is provable that such a belief can have no real life consequences of any sort.

I would love my Father if He never said a word to me.
But I'm so glad He has so much to say!!!!
"Oh how I love your law (teaching)
It is my meditation day and night" (Psalm 119:97)

Or, consider things from a negative approach:
"God, I love you so much, but would you please shut up?"
