If your religion tells you it's strictly forbidden to ever show the image of your Prophet, and somebody draws a cartoon...The way I see it, there is simply no way you can even know it's your Prophet in that cartoon. That's impossible according to your religion. Because it's strictly forbidden to show the image of your Prophet you don't know what your Prophet looks like, remember?

I don't mean offense in this, I simply would like to know if it's forbidden to show Muhammed's image, how anybody can know what He looks like.

You're right, but it's enough that the assult is meant to towards him.

Understand what I mean.

It's like drawing a picture of you... though I don't know how you look, still you'de feel insulted because you're the one meant by the assult.

That's why.

Peace. : )

On that note, what did Jesus look like? None of the people who painted his image actually ever met him. Just to make you think...

The prohibition on images depicting Mohammad is referred to as an iconoclastic belief, which in short forbids such images to prevent them from being worshipped as idols more than the God or prophet or whatever that they're suppose to represent. Such things have happened a great deal in Christianity too.

Regardless, the major irritant in the cartoon scandel had more to do with the content of some of the cartoons, which by the way when presented to the muslim world included three images (which were of dubious origin and were clearly offensive) that weren't originally published in the Jyllands-Posten, then with the actual blasphemy of depicting Mohammad.

Well-
Christians draw and paint pictures of Jesus, and no one knows what he looks like. And, you think he is G-d. Don't you think this is awful?

I'd never try to depict what G-d is------------He is too holy.

Mohammad said do not depict him, it is his message that is important, not him.
