You can re-apply, but even if it is no longer reported on your credit history after 7 years, Sears would still have a record of your past account. They may not approve you if the debt was never paid.

Sears is the one place that will keep after you for at least 15 years after your account has went south with them. I would say your chances of getting an account with them again are pretty slim.

I don't know where you live, but I would go to the site below and check out your state's statute of limitations to make sure the length is under 7 years. You don't want to reapply and refresh their memory that you owe them money and that they can still sue you.

Why would you want to re-apply at the one place in town that definitely knows about your offense?

You can reapply. I doubt they will approve you unless you agree to pay what you owed them before. It is perfectly legal to turn you down if you don't agree.
