They rely on the world to feed them, yet they have a large military and a large arsenal, which now includes nukes. How long will the be peaceful?

They are one of the poorest nations in the world. Their Dictator Kim Jung Il, has isolated itself by being irrational and uncooperative. Their nuclear program is not to arm itself but to intimidate the world and extort food, money and influence from the other countries in the Far East or The United States.

N. Korea does rely on the world to feed them, but the dude with the really bad hair cut keeps all the money. People of N. Korea go hungry while he builds his militry, and eats like a king.

That's the question, indeed. Starving their people to build bombs. Evil, incredibly evil. The food that has been sent to this pile of dung country, goes to the military and not to the villagers.
Kim Jong Il's primary reason for going to war will be because his country is sliding into starvation driven chaos and he want to give them some other demon to hate, while the demon is Kim. He makes the likes of Saddam and Mugabe look like Sunday school teachers.

The people of N. Korea are poor but the government is rich made so off the backs of the people. Don't you just love communism? The government of N. Korea is not to be trusted, much like our own but at least we let our citizens speak out against our government.

The poorest nation on earth is not N. Korea. The poorest nation is a country in Africa called Sierra Leone. There are tons of problems in Sierra Leone, but it stays ignored. Tons of women and children die everyday in that country.

because the majority of the people are poor, suffering, and the few at the top are eating like PIGS, extravagant.. i remember reading an article that the president secretly rents out Disneyworld in tokyo or something to go on rides...
while his people are literally Starving and have no idea what it's like outside of N. Korea. they dont even know that their fellow koreans in S. Korea have technology, drive nice cars, eat good food, etc etc. the people have no idea what it's like to be around a capitalist economy..... they are brought up to believe kim jong il is GOD and because of him they are alive... they are not allowed to think or learn anything else or they will be killed, tortured, etc.
that's why communism will never work..the few in power always become corrupt!!

they can afford nukes cos they dont bother to feed their own people. Unfortunatly it is an other case of communisme gone bad, as for the peaceful part negotiaton are taking place so as N korea disarms its nuclear bombs. though i must point out that the pressure is beeing put by the wrong people. who are the americans to tell me to disarm my nuclear bombs when they themselfves have the largest arsenal of nuclear bombs

All the money they can use to make food and build a good infastructure they spend on their military.Just one missile they have spent money on can feed every sigle person in North Korea for a week.
