What i do is not spank my children i put them in time out. But if you do spank you should start with your hand at age 4 or 5 i think! good luck!

under 5 or so--hand. Older I have a little paddle. And when I do have to spank it is almost always bare fanny.

I think, if a parent is doing things right, spanking should end by age 12 or so--they just gradually decrease and finally just don't happen anymore.

I don't think one should just arbitrarily stop at a certain age. And there may be behavior older than 12 that deserves a childisish punishment.

I spank hand on the bottom and have tried time outs along with taking toys away. When my children were almost 2 and they got into things I gave them a pat on the butt so they knew that was wrong. Overall because my discipline they are good kids!

I spank with my hand or I use a paddle on their butts. but I mostly do not spank I punish them by taking things away or grounding it has to be a pretty bad thing for me to spank them.

I used my hand until they were about 5 or 6, then used a belt. I think spanking should stop somewhere around 10. It becomes much more humiliating for the child and not productive.

I mostly use time out or a stern voice. If they really get out of hand I have a ruler I use and I give them one swipe to the bottom and they go to time out. After their minutes in time out (1 minute per year of age), I bend down and hug them and tell them how much I love them and how important it is to listen or behave. I believe if you spank you have to also give love after wards.

I'm amazed there're still people out there who admit to spanking.

I wish them luck in not getting hit themselves when their children are teen-agers.

I THINK SPANKING SHOULD BE AVOIDED. YOUR KIDS SHOULD NOT ASSOCIATE YOUR HANDS WITH HITTING THEM BUT RATHER HUGGING THEM. GO FOR TIME OUTS, TALKING WITH CHILDREN OLD ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND THAT THEIR BEHAVOIR IS BAD.

My daughter is five years old and has never, ever been spanked.

She will never ever know that feeling of helplessness and pain...and I am proud of my decision to never use corporal punishment.
