They are the same. Weiner stems from the days when German immigrants brought sausage to the USA. Eventually the sausages changed in variety. One of those varieties was a fine ground sausage put in to the small intestine of a pig which was popular at ball parks and state, county and world fairs. Some where in there the name was morphed in to the "Hot Dog" and I think it was at a turn of the century ball park.

A warm dogs is the two a battered saveloy or a frankfurter. A wiener is in many situations a shorter frankfurter. i think of they are all made with distinctive parts of meat, fat and seasonings.

THey can also be called frankferters, hot dogs, weiners. Corndogs Where you are from and what goes with it counts toward the name.

hot dog = a smooth-textured sausage of minced beef or pork usually smoked; often served on a bread roll
a weiner is the same, they are synoynms with each other when i looked it up. dont you have a dictionary? if not , what do you think the computer is for?!!! DUH!!
