help me find the last 15 years?

i had to reboot my computer and i lost 15 yrs worth of poems and a book that i wrote. is there a way to scan my hard drive and get it back?

Yes. You didn't explain exactly what you did to make it disappear. What you need is a utility that is made for hard drive scanning and file recovery. You might want to go to the nearest electronics store (Circuit City, Fry's) and ask somebody there what they sell.
