St. Lucia is still developing and many parts are still rural with winding hills and unpaved roads. It made me car sick driving in curves to travel from one end of the town to the next. There are lots of activities to do especially if you're ad avid diver or snorkeler. I would recommend going to one of the dive excursions usually offered at your hotel as they'll take you into deep parts of the ocean for a great view of colorful corals you don't usally see that are neon green. But you have to be brave as they may drop you off in the middle of the ocean and come back for you later. But it's worth the trip. You can even ride horses in the ocean for $40 and be able to do your usual tropical vacation activities. There was this guy on a boat that came to us on a boat full of decorated trees selling papayas and other tropical fruits for cheap price. It was almost like the picture you saw on the movie "Water World". It was neat! I think this was a treat for being in St. Lucia as we're used to going to Cayman Islands. The island is volcanic and it erodes with warm waters from the ground. There are trips you can take to sink your body in the natural warm springs from the earth and soak under the warm water falls. As far as night life, there's not much to do besides drink at a bar, listen to music or swim or you can get creative and make your own party.

Somewhat...mainly the Friday party in Gros Ilet. If your looking to party in early August, I'd suggest Barbados or Antigua since both have their Carnivals at the beginning of the month (though most of the parties run late July).

Barbados has nice nightlife throughout the year. St Lucia would be the choice if daytime activities is more important. Barbados has tours (island safaris, rum distillery tours, island tours, helicopter rides, water sports, atv riding, etc). St. Lucia has more hills and the Pitons are a highlight. St.. Lucia would be more ideal in early May (Jazz Festival) or in early-mid July (Carnival). All islands are nice however, but I mentioned the others since each island has their own festival time which means more activity. Good luck.
