Go for the Sony. You can't beat a Sony XBR. The contrast levels are great, the remote will do what you want it to....it's just a great all around tv.

I was a tech for 35 yrs, and there's a Sony sitting in my living room.
You want sharpness, good black levels, clarity....go Sony !

Costs more....worth it !

I bought the Samsung a week ago. Very happy with it. Samsung makes the lcd panels for both Samsung and Sony. The Sony has a few more setup options, however, for the price difference I didn't think it was worth it. Everytime I went in to the different stores, I was always drawn to the Samsung picture over the Sony. It seemed to have more pop.

Well the specs are pretty much even but the Sony has more inputs to hook up more components. If price is not a factor I would buy the Sony. It would also depend on the picture quality but I can't judge on that because I haven't seen these tv's.
