i just need something where i can cut, add sound, make my own effects, and make a simple video out of. but if you got something better than that, that is good to.

If you have Windows, it already has Windows Movie Maker. If you have Mac, it already has iMovie as part of iLife. If you use Linux, I don't know what to tell you but that you might be stuck on an island.
