It depends on the TV, the voltage isn't a huge issue as a lot of companies use world wide AC adapters in their products (compatible with 110 to 240 volts), the whole 50 to 60 Hz problem is not really an issue any more,l especially since you're probably thinking plasma or LCD(I say the LCD is worth the extra money). The big issue is the tuner in the TV, it may not be compatible...in fact it probably won't be. You may have to use an external tuner when you get home. If in doubt, ask in the store because mostly it's going to depend on the model of the TV. In the long run, with warranty and such probably not being covered added onto shipping costs, it's probably not going to be worth it.

Firstly, there are the two different broadcast systems (NTSC in the USA and PAL in the UK) and the fact that the UK runs on 240-260v, whilst the USA is 110v.

Secondly, shipping such a huge TV across from the USA would be very expensive - then there is the 30% import duty and VAT you'll need to pay on top of the purchase price, when it gets here.

i could advise PS3. I own an xbox 360, however the PS3 is better for watching movies on, with the aid of fact it somewhat is geared up with a Blu-ray participant. A fifty two" television is unquestionably in basic terms good for watch movies, except you sit down very some distance removed from it to play video games. while the reveal gets too huge, it ought to reason issues with the aid of fact your eyes can not register each and everything at as quickly as and you get loads of minute speedy eye strikes as your ideas tries to collect each and everything. ultimate length television for gaming is 24" to 30" no larger than 30" with the aid of fact then you truly run the possibility of the attention inflammation and issues. in case you do desire a device for gaming, i could advise the xbox 360, with the aid of solid on line gaming, and the huge library of video games. Plus you truly do no longer ought to difficulty relating to the RROD (purple Ring of dying) with the hot technology of xbox consoles. they have been overhauled with new cooling technologies. The psthree continues to be plagued with loads of gaming subjects, distinctly on line. So it relies upon on what you like the console for. Gaming = Xbox 360 Blu-ray movies = PS3

only if it is multi-system AND multi-voltage.

UK is PAL, US is NTSC.
US is 110v and UK is 240v - although you can use a transformer but it will be noisy and will get very hot and dangerous.

Forget it. It's the wrong voltage and the wrong system.
