I've had my braces for a little over a year now. i got them like one day before Thanksgiving last year!lol. so i couldnt eat anything that was hard. you have to eat things that are soft. Or break things down. When I first got them they hurt VERY bad because I just got my spacers (little rubber bands that they put in your back molers to make spaces for the brackets) off and that hurt soo bad! But nothing to worry about at ALL! And i also got a fever, but that couldnt've been from the braces (maybe). cuz I dont like taking medicine thats probably why. anyways... all you have to do is take medicine sometimes if it hurts or put some type of orajel on it. It doesnt hurt after awhile. You'll get used to them. TRUST! And usually you can get cool colors to go on them. Hope I answered ya question!

It does not hurt when they are putting it on, it's just a little annoying how you have to have your mouth wide open and them zapping your teeth a lot.

For a week after you get it on it will ache somewhat, because your teeth are adjusting to the braces, you can take pain relievers and rinses and put on orthodontic wax if it hurts too much or for problem parts.

You will have to get them tightened at least every month, and your teeth might hurt only a little bit after you get them tightened, but you will get completely used to them after a little while. Very soon it'll feel very normal having them on. Also try to avoid the foods your dentist tells you not to eat--apples, gum, corn, etc. for at least the first two months or so after you get your braces on. They can break.

Good luck =)!

have you had all the prep work done already? did you need spacers? Putting the acutal braces on isnt too bad..a little pulling and tugging and tightening..you will feel it more the next day...an overall dull achiness...and it may be painful to bite down for a day or two...and you'll have that every time they are tightened...so stock up in advanced with soft foods..yougart, ice cream (yeah mama!-esp good for that first time achiness), cottage cheese, soup, etc....the discomfort will pass in a couple of days..take some advil and know that you are going to have a fantastic smile in the very near future!!!

It can be quite sore for a few days if your teeth don't have much space in between them! And then they can get sore when you have them tightened. Other than that, it could be cutting up the inside of your lips for a little while. But none of it is unbareable.

It's a little uncomfortable when you get them put on but it doesnt hurt. the next day or two your teeth may tickle or ache a little bit but it wont be horrible. just dont eat anything too hard the first day or two.

good luck :D

Depends on the orthodontist and the work being done.
I had minimal work done by a "not-so-good" orthodontist and I was in pain for days.
My brother had a lot of work done by a good orhtodontist and had some soreness for a few hours.
