About a month ago, I was pulled over for speeding, but I was under the influence, and so they took me in. When they pulled me over, I blew .133, and the legal limit in CA is .08. When I got to the station, I blew .111. I was checked into the station at 12:30 midnight, and they said that I should be out shortly after sunrise. I wasn't let out untill 9:30 pm. So I was in there for 21 hours. I originally wasn't going to hire a lawyer, but I heard that maybe I should. What do you think?

DUI is serious enough that you probably need a lawyer.

Just my opinion.

Absolutely. Was the breathalzer calibrated correctly? There's a lot of issues like that a lawyer can discover and use to get you off. Also, without a lawyer, you don't get a chance to plea bargain and you won't get credit for the time you served in jail before you were released. A DUI stays on your record forever in my state. With a lawyer, if it's your first offense, you might be able to get a deferred sentence. A deferred sentence is a conviction that disappears from your record after 90 days-6 months if you are not re-arrested for another DUI. The Courts are overwhelmed with cases. The judges usually are happy to see a plea bargain. Plus, with a lawyer, you might not get your license suspended.

From what you have written, the DUI seems valid.
Hiring a lawyer will probably not get you off the hook.
You could complain about having been detained longer than you should have been, but that won't make a difference in your DUI case.
I'd say 'save your money'.

Save your money.
You admit you were under the influence.
You were tested under the influence.
D.U.I. is so common that they courts have routine punishments that don't change whether you have a lawyer or not. Just plead guilty and pay the fine with the money you are saving by not fighting when you know you committed the crime.

each state has automatic sentence including fine, probation community service and DUI school and more.there is usually mandatory jail time of 24 hours minimum so you might have to go back A lawyer can do nothing about this so save your money for all the crap you are going to have to do

Lawyer or no lawyer it isn't going to make much of a difference. Unless the lawyer can get it reduced to reckless driving.

my advise when dealing with the law would be to get a lawyer they know all the twists and turns ( they might not get you off but they could still save your skin )

Go to one that handles traffic offenses, don't be afraid to ask him on his credentials, etc.
