I would say both of those software pieces are legal but what you do with them depends on you to make the usage legal or illegal. if you download/share legal files that have no copyrights than its legal and if you download/share illegal files (usually mp3s, movies, software with licenses cracked) than its illegal. So it really depends on the use.
Are you going to get in trouble for illegal file sharing? maybe, maybe not. But idiots in MPAA and RIAA got nothing better to do but bust people for downloading a song or two.

It depends on what you're sharing. If it is licensed for sharing it's fine, otherwise it's not. (i.e. sharing windows is illegal but sharing Linux if you provide source code is fine). Same with music and videos.

It, in its self is not, but if your getting things like songs, software, and movies, then that sharing material is.

I am guessing that because they offer a version that you pay for, it isn't but if its not, it will soon be. i dont think any p2p is illegal because they dont hide themselves, if they were illegal, they would already be out of buisness

no, they just let you download it publicly because they like to get sued as much as possible. they have millions of dollars to piss away in court so they make illigal software for everyone to use.
