I automatically assumed you were a junior high student when I read your question. Promise rings say, "Hey girl, I promise to be faithful to you, but I'm not ready to marry you yet." That's why kids do it all the time. I guess he's saying that he loves you & wants to have a serious relationship with you, but he's not quite ready to marry you. Nothing wrong with that, unless you want to get married soon. Now on what hand to wear it, I'm not sure. If you were a kid I'd say wear it on your right hand so your parents don't freak out. Sense your a 32 year old woman I'd ask him if it's appropriate for you to wear it on your left ring finger. (where the wedding band or engagment ring goes) If he's not shy about people knowing he's commited to you he wont have a problem with it, but if it's some kind of secret than you'll have to wear it on you right hand. Hope that helps

I always thought of promise rings as a high school thing, like your high school sweet heart gives you one and promises you two will be together forever. And I thought they were wore on the left hand cause it was like a pre-engagement ring.. I personally think that getting a promise ring is ridiculous. You're 32 you should be getting engaged and married not getting a ring that buys time for that guy so he can wait even longer to purpose.

Promise rings are for 12-17 year olds who are too young to become engaged, but need some sort of little "security" item to show their devotion. At your age, a promise ring is not only ridiculous but meaningless, sorry.
Youngsters wear them on their right hands.
"Promise ring may take the place of an engagement ring in the most serious of relationships among young people. This is often because one or both of the partners are either too young to legally be wed under the law or unwilling/unable to receive legal waivers, required due to status as a minor/dependent, from their respective parents and/or guardians."

It goes on the right hand, ring finger.
Not sure about the age, but I think that is a little too old. Your old enough to go ahead and get married not just promised to get married.

I don't think it's crazy, because it's more of a sign of his dedication to you without you having to decide if you're ready to marry him yet. I believe they're worn on the same hand/finger as an engagement or wedding ring. It's a very sweet gesture, he's telling you he wants to marry you someday, but he probably sees that maybe you as a couple aren't ready for that big step right now.

A promise ring is basically a commitment that he is promising to marry you, that he is reserved only for you, but not engaged yet. It is worn on your ring finger of your left hand just like an engagement ring, and you are never too old to get one!

No, its not silly. You are not too old. My mother in law just got a promise/commitment ring from her bf that shes been living with for over 5 years. Its a way for him to tell you that he loves you and wants to be with you.. You are lucky to have a guy who shows you how he feels about you.! Congrats!

That's kind of old - he should just save up money for a real engagement ring if he means it. He's obviously immature.
