When you go to purchase cables or chains, the auto supply department should have a reference chart, just like they do for wiper blades, headlights, air filters, etc. It is most important that you know your tire size than car model, so make certain you bring that in the store with you. I just went through this at Walmart and had to run out to the parking lot to check my tire size! Hope that helps!

Find out the size of your tires. It should be something like this if it's original equipment - 175/65-14. If it's not orginal, then look for the tire size and go down to the local auto parts store such as kragens / autozone/ pepboys and ask a store personnel to help you find the right snow cable/chain for your car.

The only time you should need chains and are legal are mountain passes other wise, if you feel like you need more grip consider studded or a good snow tire but studded will have to be removed in the spring by law.

Your Corolla is a front wheel drive, so cables are what your after. They are sized by your tires, so just tell your auto parts store your tire size and they will get the ones you need.
