If I loved Van Gogh's art, studied it, and sought it out, would I shun the news that said new works were discovered hidden in an old place he used to live? I would think I would be eager to go and see for myself. If it were true and they were by VanGogh, I would be grateful his new works were found.

Why do so many devout Christians reject that there is another testament of Jesus Christ in addition to the Bible? The idea that ancient prophets lived in the American continent and wrote of their experiences should excite interest in Christian believers. And not only do many reject it, but they refrain from even investigating it. If there were another testament of Jesus Christ, wouldn't Christians be very interested to find out what it says - and from the source? If you are a Christian seeking to learn more about Christ, why would you avoid reading the Book of Mormon to discover if it's true?

People incorrectly believe that the Bible is substantiated by its own authority. But if you don't believe in the bible, even though you may feel inclined to believe, how can you find out whether it is true, since whatever claim the book makes has no authority in your mind? A book that states that it is true and the reason it is true is that it says so is not a solid reason for believing. It is circular reasoning.

Most Protestant Christians feel that they shouldn't read the Book of Mormon because they incorrectly feel that the Bible excludes the Book of Mormon's truthfulness. Protestant Christians believe the Bible but don't fully understand that it is by the Spirit of God that they know it is true, the spiritual enlightenment the Spirit engenders, and not some internal claim of truthfulness by the book itself. That is the same way people know that the Book of Mormon is true. Interestingly, the Book of Mormon makes no exclusive claims to truthfulness. Mormons believe in the Bible as much as they believe in the Book of Mormon.

I believe that no American can be truly educated without having read the Book of Mormon. It is one of the formative books of our country and deserving of study. It was the catalyst for one of America's largest western migrations. No one should be afraid to read it. If you read with an open mind it is quite fascinating.

It's the comfort cocoon. Because when you're a Christian you adopt the same prejudices of the type of Christians who recruited you. When I was a Christian, I had zero curiousity about other religions. There was no need for it because my parents and friends were not mere Christians--they were the *right* kind of Christians. I would never have considered visting any other church, be it Methodist, Presbyterian, Catholic, etc. I eventually did read the Book of Mormon, but I was already an Ex-Christian by then. The "miracles" seemed silly, but no sillier than the ones in the Bible. True, there were verses that contradicted the Bible--but hey the Bible contradicts itself all over the place.

Mormonism has a terrible disadvantage in that there are secular historical accounts of the movement. These make it obvious that Joseph Smith was nothing more than a very gifted con-man.

It's a pity that the Roman historians, who were reputedly very thorough, didn't give us an objective and contemporary account of Jesus. In fact there are only a few scraps. And John the Baptist gets more attention. It's almost like Jesus wasn't a big deal.

I examine, have faith in, and love the Bible. you're able to would desire to be an fool, in spite of the undeniable fact that, to no longer admit that there are some issues interior the Bible that are no longer very sparkling. of direction you will contend this, in spite of the undeniable fact that your end would be that your interpretation is right and all and sundry else's is erroneous. Very handy. because of the fact of this Christianity has been bickering between itself for the previous couple of hundred years (being conservative) What if your interpretation isn't top? have you ever examine the e book of Mormon? After examining it, have you ever obtain on your knees and plead with the Lord to renowned if the e book which you merely examine grew to become into genuine? asked if he adult men have been actual adult men and actual prophets? have you ever completed so truly (and not in uncomplicated terms seeking to poke holes in it or instruct it incorrect) yet truly waiting to settle for any answer that the Lord delivers. I have not have been given any doubt that there are some conflicts between the e book of Mormon and YOUR interpretation of the Bible. God will testify to you that it is genuine no rely if it is genuine and fake no rely if it is fake. i understand this. i've got asked him, and he's printed the certainty to me pertaining to to this rely. You do have faith in a God that listens to and solutions prayers do no longer you??? What if the Church of Jesus Christ is in certainty led via Christ himself? would not you want to renowned it??? isn't that properly worth some faith, humility, and a trustworthy prayer???

Because the Bible says, "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." (Gal 1:6-9)

The Bible also says, "But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ." (Gal. 1:11-12)

Galatians 1:23 says, "But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed."

Clearly "the faith" which was preached is the same as "the gospel", as also in Acts 3:16, 6:7, 14:22, 16:5, 24:24, Romans 1:5, 3:3, 4:11, 4:16, 14:1, Ephesians 4:13, Col. 2:7, and many others.

Now notice what Jude verse 3 says, "Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints."

Here "the faith", the gospel, WAS ONCE delivered for all saints. This leaves no room for latter day revelations.

Christians believe the Bible. Unlike other books that claim to be Scripture (such as the Book of Mormon), the Bible's accuracy and reliability have been proved and verified over and over again by archaeological finds produced by both believing and non believing scholars and scientists. This includes verification for numerous customs, places, names and events mentioned in the Bible.

I'm not a Christian, but please understand that the Book of Mormon isn't an addendum in the sense that it's a pretty new piece of poetry. It's a complete and total reworking of the entire Jesus story - something that many Christians believe should not be rewritten.

It's also worth noting that your analogy is flawed - a new Van Gogh painting can be shown to be painted by Van Gogh by many types of verification. However, it would be impossible to prove that the Book of Mormon was indeed inspired by God. These Christians are not rejecting a new Van Gogh painting - in their minds, they are rejecting a painting by Bob Johnson, who merely signed in "Van Gogh" along with a smiley face in the corner.

The Book of Mormon is supposed to be the account of people who came from the Middle East to the Americas. It covers the period of about 600 B.C. to 400 A.D. It tells of the Jaredites, people from the Tower of Babel who came to the Central America but perished because of their own immortality. It also describes some Jews who fled persecution in Jerusalem and came to America led by a man called Nephi. The Jews divided into two groups known as the Nephites and the Lamanites who fought each other. The Nephites were defeated in 420 A.D. The Lamanites continued and are known as the American Indians. The Book of Mormon is supposed to be the account of the Nephite leader who was called Mormon as he wrote concerning their culture, civilization, and appearance of Jesus to the Americas.
Joseph Smith said " that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book"
The Book of Mormon is not of God.

The short answer of it is found in Revelation 22:18-21.

The gift of salvation is clearly written in the New Testament of the Holy Bible. Salvation is a gift from the living God. It can not be earned and certainly not by following another book that is a false teaching.

The teachings of the Mormon Church are far different that what the Holy Bible teaches and therefore does not follow God's Word.

Mormons are polytheists (believing that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three different Gods.) Christians are monotheists. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are One God. The living God is a triune being, as we are...for we are made in His image.

Joseph Smith Jr. who could not be trusted in earthly matters, certainly can not be trusted in Heavenly and Spiritual matters.

For anyone who rejects the Holy Bible is rejecting the Almighty God Jehovah (God of Israel).

Psalms 19:7-10 states:  7 The law of Jehovah is perfect, bringing back the soul. The reminder of Jehovah is trustworthy, making the inexperienced one wise. 8 The orders from Jehovah are upright, causing the heart to rejoice; The commandment of Jehovah is clean, making the eyes shine. 9 The fear of Jehovah is pure, standing forever. The judicial decisions of Jehovah are true; they have proved altogether righteous. 10 They are more to be desired than gold, yes, than much refined gold; And sweeter than honey and the flowing honey of the combs.

Revelation 22:18,19 states: 18 “I am bearing witness to everyone that hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll; 19 and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take his portion away from the trees of life and out of the holy city, things which are written about in this scroll."

If you believe the book of Mormon is God's word, then you just call the Almighty God Jehovah a liar. (Exodus 6:1-3) God is God of order not of confusion. He can not lie.

Here, feel free to visit Pat Robertson (not a JW)

Here are few examples (quoting from BOM) why the book of Mormon is not from God.

God: Father of all Gods, he has a flesh-and-bone body.—Doctrine and Covenants 130:22.

Elohim: Sometimes referred to as an individual. Also described as a council of Gods who organized the earth.—Doctrine and Covenants 121:32; The Pearl of Great Price, Abraham 4:1; Journal of Discourses, Volume I, page 51.

Jesus: God and Creator of the whole earth, the Savior.—3 Nephi 9:15; 11:14.

Jehovah: The Old Testament name for Jesus.—Compare Mormon 3:22; Moroni 10:34; and Book of Mormon index.

Trinity: The Godhead of three separate, distinct spirit personages, Father and Son, of flesh and bone, and Holy Ghost.—Alma 11:44; 3 Nephi 11:27.

Adam: Jesus’ helper in the creation. Brigham Young stated: “Our father Adam came into the garden of Eden . . . and brought Eve, one of his wives. . . . He is our Father and our God.” (Journal of Discourses, Volume I, page 50, 1854 Edition) After his sin, Adam became earth’s first Christian. (The Pearl of Great Price, Moses 6:64-66; Ensign, January 1994, page 11) He is “the Ancient of days” (Doctrine and Covenants 116) and is the literal physical Father of Jesus.—Journal of Discourses, Volume I, page 51.

Michael: Another name for Adam, the archangel.—Doctrine and Covenants 107:54

Does the book of Mormon make any sense? Is God a big fat liar? Is God's word the Bible confusing? NO!

I am sorry this turned out to be a bit long but I wanted to show the verses and doubt anybody will read it through. These verses are from the BIBLE NOT THE BOOK OF MORMON.

Most people are afraid to believe it because they have been taught that the BIBLE IS ALL THERE IS AND THERE IS NO MORE. That has been the MISCONCEPTION, especially if they say the BELIEVE THE BIBLE TO BE TRUE.

Here are some of the scriptures that do state that Christ's TRUE CHURCH WILL FALL AWAY AND PERVERT HIS TEACHINGS.

Isaiah 24:5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.

6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

Isaiah 60:2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

Amos 8: 11 ¶ Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:

12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

1Corinthians 11:16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

17 Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.

18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

2 Thess. 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Here are some verses about the RESTORATION AND HIS PROPHETS.
Amos3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he brevealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

Isaiah2: 2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

Isaiah 29:13 ¶ Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

15 Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

For those that want to accuse Joseph Smith as a false Prophet, remember these verses.

2Kings 17:14 Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.

2Chronicles 36:16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

Isaiah 30:9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:
10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

Jeremiah 44:4 Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.
5 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.
Matt. 23:34 ¶ Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

And people want to tell me that THEY BELIEVE IN THE BIBLE BUT THEY NEVER MENTION THOSE VERSES.

THE BOOK OF MORMON IS CONSIDERED TO BE ANOTHER WITNESS OF JESUS CHRIST NOT A REPLACEMENT TO THE BIBLE.

If people us Deut 4:2 and Rev 22:18-19, please explain this. Why is that verses in the Bible twice and in 2 different books? If that was true then everything after Deut should NOT be in the Bible. If you also notice God is talking to Isreal in Deut. and in Rev it states "THIS" book.
