Hello Choose Rea,
From my understanding the OT was not done away with, when Jesus came on the seen he came to make it better not to put away.
For example you know longer have to puck your eye out for lusting, all you have to do now is repent and ask for forgiveness. So! you see he did not do away with the law- he made it better.

The OT DOES matter in that it is filled with examples and truth of how God really feels about all humanity, sin, and our future. The way I've heard it explained by my Pastor is that the Old Testament points to the first coming of Christ, the Gospels proclaim His arrival, and the rest of the New Testament teaches the Christian how to live the Christian life and what to expect in the end. The Old Testament is necessary to the study life of the Christian. So in my opinion, any one who calls themselves a Christian but totally disregards the Old Testament as being valuable to their Christian walk is really missing out on a whole lot that they could learn from God Himself i.e. the Psalms and the book of Proverbs. As for the Mosaic laws found in the book of Leviticus and in Exodus much if those requirements for worship were all replaced by the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. If you study and break down how the Hebrews, Israelis, and Jews (before Jesus Christ was born) were told how to worship God in the Old Testament (what they were to wear, how they were to pray, etc) you can see clear examples of why Jesus had to complete his Messianic mission here on earth. So once again, the Old Testament is absolutely essential to the Christian walk if the Christian is to ever fully learn about God.

you're misinterpreting the passage right here. even in the journey that your interpretation have been ultimate, Christians could nonetheless no longer be required to maintain that regulation except they underwent circumcision, and Gentile Christians have been in no way required to accomplish that. Now, are there rules codified interior the prophets? No. are you able to wreck or fulfill something interior the prophets that may no longer interior the prophets? No. If Jesus got here to "fulfill" the "regulation and prophets" then what precisely did He do to end this? "The regulation on the time grew to become into the regulation of the previous testomony." No, the regulation in this context are the 1st 5 books of the previous testomony writings, and could additionally consult with the best deal of the previous testomony writings. "teach me a verse interior the Bible which says that it somewhat is okay to dismiss the guidelines of the previous testomony?" A loaded question. The previous testomony is likewise the previous covenant, and Gentile Christians in no way grew to grow to be a criminal social gathering to that covenant. additionally, that covenant ended; being replaced through the hot covenant. Is the hot covenant no longer good sufficient for you? .

The Old Testament is a record that we still study. We are under the New covenant now, and The New Testament tells about that. : )
I like them both. Everything recorded in the Bible is not acceptable behavior by God. Think of King David. He did things horribly wrong, but when he repented, God never brought his sins up again. He is the man after God's own heart.

I will not give you this answer that you always get.
The Tanakh (what you call the OT) is the Bible-the Holy Scriptures. The NT is a made up book that should not be part of the Holy Scriptures-not al all.

As a Christian I believe that the Old Testament is JUST AS IMPORTANT as the New Testament. We need the WHOLE book to guide our lives.
There is a lot to be learned in the O.T.
I don't have a problem discussing things that don't seem to "fit."
We are NOT ALL THE SAME.

The Old Testament does matter. Jesus said that he came not to abolish the law and the prophets, but to fulfill them. He said that they would not be void until the Earth and the Heavens themselves were swept away. What he did, however, was show us HOW the law was meant to be fulfilled - according to the spirit rather than the letter.
There are laws to keep the Sabbath holy, but they should not be maintained to excess: "The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath." Adulturesses should be stoned, but "Let he who is without guilt throw the first stone." "You have heard that it was said to your ancestors, 'You shall not kill...but I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment."

The customs of the old testament changed. The law of the old testament changed. The old testament hasn't changed.

Jews do not need Christianity to explain their existence or their origin, but Christians cannot explain their existence without Judaism.
