"I would argue that it is not the same for muslims. Muslims terrorists are often celebrated, honored and considered heroes who should be looked up to and venerated.
When others commit atrocities, especially in the name of their god, their fellow adherents condemn, villify, ostracize and excommunicate because in the mind of the vast majority they have desecrated the name of God and have brought same and indignity on the community."
Rubbish - Christians love Christian terrorists - George Bush is idolized by American Christians, Serbian Christians love war criminals Karadzic, Mladic and Milosevic and the greatest terrorists of all time , The Crusaders, who kill ALL non-Christians no belonging to their sect are considered great heroes by Christians - the word "crusade" or to be called a crusader is considered good to them

Don't ever confuse the two.

1) No its not in Islam - murder etc are MAJOR sins in islam - but in Islamic orthodox belief a muslim doesn't become a non-muslim by commiting a major sin
This is mentioned in Aqida Tahawiyya the standard orthodox Sunni belief
57 We do not consider any of the people of our qiblah (direction of Mecca) to he unbelievers because of any wrong action they have done, as long as they do not consider that action to have been lawful.
http://www.masud.co.uk/ISLAM/misc/tahawi.htm
2) Also in Islam there is a HUGE impediment to declaring a Muslim a non-muslim
It is reported on the authority of Ibn `Umar that the Prophet (may peace and blessings be upon him) said: Any person who calls his brother: O Unbeliever! (then the truth of this label) would return to one of them. If it is true, (then it is) as he asserted, (but if it is not true), then it returns to him (and thus the person who made the accusation is an Unbeliever). [Muslim]
Therefore, if you call other Muslims "kafir" or "mushrik" without discrimination, you could find that you have left Islam, according to the words of the Prophet (s.a.w.), in less than a second.
So this is why it is a MAJOR thing for a Muslim to call a Muslim a non-Muslim
http://www.themodernreligion.com/ugly/kafr.html
When non-Muslims ask why Muslims dont expel muslim terrorists from the faith if its a peaceful and tolerant faith - the reasons are because islam is a tolerant faith - even though people who kill innocents have comitted a grave sin according to Islamic law (after idoltary murder is consider the worse sin in islam) they arent non-Muslims - indeed I dont know any religion that says murder is an act of apostasy - and because by calling a Muslim a non-believer one of you is

It's inevitable, by their (Christian/Jewish/Muslim/etc.) own twisted sense of logic. Every Christian (or Jew or Muslim) believes that s/he is a "true" Christian and that any one who deviates from his/her believes is a false Christian, since plurality of thought is a terrifying concept to all "true believers." Please keep in mind that Christians (and other religions) are essentially hostile to reason. The Catholic concept of "papal infallicy" guarantees that the Pope is always, indisputably and unswervingly RIGHT in everything he says (even when he clearly is not, as Galileo proved). Martin Luther, the father of Protestantism, proudly proclaimed, "Reason must be deluded, blinded and destroyed. Faith must trample underfoot all reason, sense and understanding...and know nothing but the word of God." (Of course, he actually meant "the word of God" as HE interpreted it.) This philosophy is not the exception to religion; it is the rule. That is why intelligent, rational people find it so frustrating to have productive conversations with Christians et al; the very precepts that intelligent, rational people are guided by (reason, logic, even common sense) are completely useless to people of faith. Only blind, mindless obedience interests them. That is why religious people, of all denominations and all countries and all cultures, have been the enemy of all human progress throughout history. Sadly, that is not likely to change in the near future. (Witness the current example of mass murderers George W. Bush and Osama bin Laden, whose similarities FAR outweigh their differences.)

I think that some people are Christians who are misguided and others are really not Christians. That their beliefs are more political and less spiritual. The bible says that we will see the fruit. Though David was a man who committed murder and had more wives than God told him to, he was repentant. All claiming to be Christians do not repent.

purely.... Chrsitianity stands for particular ethical values that decision for someone no longer do the flaws that Hitler did... Atheism stands for no actual ethics. So, amoral acts in the call of Christianity is a lie because of the fact it violates Christ's teachings, ideals, and character. yet, amoral acts in the call of Atheism does not violate any concept of atheism. in actuality it style of feels that Atheism would create a good worldwide view to do atrocities and not experience they are "incorrect".

Everyone screws up. Some people more than others. And some people just follow the teachings of Jesus as THEY see fit.
