Relax, my lovely. Here's what's likely to happen:
Mum will come into the nurse's office with you and the nurse will probably ask whether you've had a blood test before ... so if she knows it's your first she might ask you if you're feeling nervous.
Then the nurse will ask you to roll up your sleeve (almost certainly your left sleeve) and very quickly wipe your skin with a cold-feeling liquid. The purpose of this is to sterilise the area and also to provide a little local anaesthetic so you won't feel pain. The nurse will probably ask you to make a fist - what she wants is to be able to see, very clearly, one of the veins on the inside of your arm standing out clearly. Then she'll slide a very thin needle into the vein, along the line of the vein, and you might feel a little pricking on entry and it might feel as if someone is pushing on your arm, but it won't hurt. She'll draw out as much blood as she needs and then swab the area with more disinfectant and add a plaster. (Sweetie, I have to tell you that this is the part that scares me more than anything else and I'm old enough to be your grandmother, because I can't stand the sight or sound of cotton wool and I have to ask them not to bring it near me!).
If you start to feel nervous, take some deep breaths and either look away from the nurse - look at mummy - or tell yourself that you're not going to be scared next time and look at what the nurse is doing. It's entirely your choice.
There you go. It could ever so slightly different from how I've described it, but not by a lot. So please don't be frightened. Someone loves you enough to take care of you and this is part of how they're doing it.

You feel the needle a bit, sometimes the person drawing your blood has a difficult time time finding a good vein so have your Mom come in with you and if the phlebitis's is causing you any pain your Mom can yell at him/her.
You really have nothing to worry about though, just turn your head and don't look.

Your mom can definately stay with you. At first you feel a little prick of the needle but nothing after that. I would look away though, could create a fear of needles if you see whats going on (like with me). I have a fear of needles now but blood tests arent bad and they dont take very long. You'll be fine! :)

I got one today. It depends on how much blood they draw, and if the person doing it has good technique or not. Mine hurt a bit, but it's really not bad. It's just a little sore afterward, and as long as it stops bleeding, you should be fine. Your mum can definitely go in with you. Good luck and don't be scared!

it wont hurt any worse than getting a shot, because thats all it is. the doctor will put a small needle in your arm that will drain a little blood from your body. and yes, your mother can stay with you. nothing to be worried about.

find out from your pediatrician if he can prescribe a special cream to numb the area where they draw blood.. place it 30 min before the blood drawing.. it hurts less.. they usually do it in the middle of the arm..the part where your arm bends..they put a tight plastic above the site of blood drawing and they ask you to make a fist to make veins more visible.. its quick if you have good visible veins..at your age you shuld have no problems with finding your veins..good luck..your mom should be there.
