I just heard that the prime minister is involved in some kind of tax scheem and the latest prime minister (sharon) was also involved of something.
An Israeli friend told me that in Israel you alwys have to know someone who knows someone, in the courts, in the police, in the clinics, in the army and even with the electric company...

Corruption is the same.
The 2005 Corruption Perceptions Index Country Rank (1 best, 158 worst) Israel is rank 28 (17% top best).
USA rank 17, Japan 21 are better than Israel.
Italy, and south Korea 40, China 78, Palestine 107, Russia 126, are all worst than Israel.

In a way you are right, but what you said is strongly exaggerated. Unfortunately, just like everywhere else, there is corruption in Israel. In some cases it is worse then some other countries, but in most cases it is better.
And just like everywhere else, it is always nice to know some people who know some people...
However, if you take that region, and compare Israel's corruption to every country at its border, you will be amazed on how low the corruption level is in Israel.

Noname also knows nothing about who or what is really corrupt. Try looking at most of the surrounding Arab nations. The real definition of corruption can be found in those countries. Look at THEIR leaders/former leaders and tell me that Israel is more corrupt. Give me a brake and while you're at it get REAL education too.

There is corruption in EVERY country's government.
Not just Israel.
You can get along fine if you do not know anyone adn do not have any connections.
It is not like the electric company will not provide service if you don't know any one, that is just silly.
Corruption though, is much more predominant in the third world.
(yes , No matter how much it tries not to be, Israel IS a third world country).
It is easier to buy favors, I mean world class soccer players were recently caught in a points shaving scheme, they agreed to a price of $2,000.
To think a pro athlete would do that for a measly $2,000....
Only in Israel.
