Most cultures that have tried multi-languages have ended up in violence and hatred, like Croatia and Quebec. The history lesson is being the one-language people.

It helps if we're going to understand each other... no reason why you can't have English as a second language and use your own among people of your own linguistic group, but it surely helps in an emergency and other issues.
