Romans 1:20--For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
God put the desire there..I believe internally as well as externally(as Romans 1:20 alludes to, in a way).

Fear that's what puts the desire there. You know what they say. There are no Atheist in a foxhole. That's crap of course. But fear will make even an Atheist pray. I know I had a few words for God when I was stuck in that car wreck and they had to use the Jaws of life to pry me out. Any port in as storm as they say.xx

Have you ever heard the term there are no atheist in fox holes. When people realize that their life is out of control for whatever reason they then turn to God in hope that He does have some measure of control over the thing that is kicking their butt. Brings the passage that says all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord.

because people use God a crutch. they are not a strong enough themselves, so they put "faith" in a higher power, basically they need a imaginary friend for grown ups. to help guide them. when really they are just talking to themselves. and if there really is a God, then how come people only pray to him when they are in danger or trouble. like i said God is a crutch.

Desperate people do desperate things. In extreme situation, otherwise kind and moral mothers have murdered their own children to save their skins. Who put THAT desire there?
And I have never prayed to god for anything since becomming an atheist. So please don't assume.

Because God created man on instinct, I mean at heart believes the existence of God. Why endure calamity when it resorts to the Creator of retribution

We have been created to have a courting with God. human beings turn to Him in circumstances of problem. They blame God because of the fact they say if there grew to become right into a God he would end suffering. The catastrophes are led to by skill of our sin and how we've taken care of the planet.

My husband says that when he and his friends in Iraq are under attack they don't pray to God, instead they curse the fools who put them there.

Thank you for at least saying 'many'. While I'd want to see your sources on the occurance rate of this, at least you didn't lump ALL together.
