some of the southern states have the highest divorce rates and illigimate births and highest crime rates and violent crime rates.
that is the bible belt. So someone isn't reading their bible.
It is where they grow pot and after church have chicken fights.
So they can watch animals tear each other to pieces. They hunt everything that moves and have dogs that go racoon hunting that once he is treed try to shoot it down without killing it so the dogs can tear it apart while it squirms to get away in agony. When they can't do that they shoot deer with a bow and arrow which usually just injures it and it goes away to suffer and die. Or kill Bear and squirrel and birds. A real family outing. There is gambling at the Indian casino's and bingo night at the VFW hall that looks like a family reunion.
Who ever said this place was to puritian? They all stand outside the churches smoking cigarettes and coughing. Wondering why God did this to me and gave me cancer. You call this puritaian?
The pastors of the churches join in as the greatest sport, hunting is taught to children as young as nine.
They are so brutal to their dogs it is hard to even watch.
But if you say anything about homosexuality, your asked to leave the country. No liberalism, or tolerance there.
While every man here has a mistress in addition to his wife and she knows and looks away. They never miss church or after ward fried chicken dinner. But they are all saved and are not afraid to tell you that. Even though it has the highest unwed mother population it is totally against abortion.
How do I know? I live here.

No . Yankee it is not. however your remarks seem rather weird , rude and strange.Southerners don't need you around. just stay out of the South would be my recommendation. If you don't like us. so what. we don't care in the least.keep your remarks to yourself. or come South and find out where it will get you.It take all kinds I guess.just keep your Yankee self up North. OK. and in regards about the remarks about divorce rates and crime rates being higher in the South, I am not trying to express racism. But this is where most black people live. so naturally the rates will be higher here.the worst state in regards to those high rates is Mississippi , where more then half the population is black. so go figure it out yourself. Its the blacks who cause most of the bad ratings in the South. not the whites.if the Northern States had as many blacks per population. then they also would have higher divorce and crime rates.and the like.Get some common sense Y'all. and keep up all this putting down of the South. maybe then we will get it together and leave the union again.I pray this will happen in my life time.

Puritanism has mutated in some disgusting ways; it helped with the rise of slavery. It has caused people to perish inside burning barns and to kill themselves under the direction of demented gurus. It has caused some people to retreat from society completely in order to seek solace from the rest of the world.
Has it grown to become intolerable? No. For one, Puritanism has taken over the inner working of our nation's psyche in ways that most people haven't even begun to realize. There are things about Americans in general that correspond to Puritan thought. For example, do you have several antibacterial soaps or cleaners in your home, and do you believe, as the Puritans did, that "cleanliness is next to godliness," or that "cleanliness is a virtue"? If so, you, too, have been indoctrinated.
Do you believe that hard work and sincere faith have anything to do with success in life? This, too, is a by-product of Puritanism working in our lives.
Puritanism is a force beyond our reckoning in this day. We see right-wing conservatives and say, "Hex! Hex! Puritans!" when in fact, Puritans of early America would be shamed to be compared to such boastful, arisocratic, lazy people.

"Puritan"? What are you talking about? I don't think there have ever been Puritans in the South. Check your terminology -

Puritans were those guys in funny hats that ate Thanksgiving with the Indians.

The 'Puritan' type movement has grown to an intolerable level nationwide.

It does not bother me that they want to be pure but it does if they are insisting that others be and trying to legislate morals. God does not need man to legislate His morals. It only breeds hate and more rebellion. Purity is good but can not be mandated.
