Also known as the “mahdi”, They believe he may come to earth in 2007 and could be revealed to the world as early as the spring equinox. For those who don't know they claim that the mahdi will first appear in Mecca, and then Medina. He will conquer all of Arabia, Syria, Iraq, destroy Israel, and then set up a “global government” based in Iraq. I just thought this was interesting because they also believe he will reign for 7 years. Is it possible this person could be revealed as our Antichrist? Just curious what other believers thought and if there is anybody from the Islamic faith that could tell me more about the Twelfth Imam?

It is possible - after all, the "Holy Land" is where it's all going to happen!! If we all get "Raptured" away - maybe some of the atheists might start to reconsider things when they see him 'emerge'!

Although not a Muslim - I've never heard anything about 2007 being the date for the 12th/"Hidden" Imam to emerge.

"What do you think about the Islamic messiah known as the “Twelfth Imam” ?"

The twelth imam is a shia belief - not shared by the 90% of Muslims who are Sunni - how do you know he will return in 2007 ? Because an Iranian newspaper said that ?

". Is it possible this person could be revealed as our Antichrist? "

Highly unlikely - Christians belief holds that the anti-christ is a jew
namely the messiah the jews are waiting for

Jerry Falwell "- The Rev. Jerry Falwell said the Antichrist is probably alive today and is a male Jew. He also believes the second coming of Christ probably will be within 10 years. In a speech Thursday about the concern people have over the new millennium, Falwell told about 1,500 people at a conference on evangelism at Kingsport, Tenn., that the Antichrist is male and is a Jew."" Since Jesus came to the earth the first time 2,000 years ago as a Jewish male, many evangelicals believe the Antichrist will, by necessity, be a Jewish male. This belief is 2,000 years old and has no anti-Semitic roots. This is simply historic and prophetic orthodox Christian doctrine that many theologians, Christian and non-Christian, have understood for two millennia."

Will the Antichrist be of Jewish descent?

The Rev. Jerry Falwell once told an audience in Kingsport, Tenn., that the Antichrist will be of Jewish descent. A short-lived firestorm erupted in the media over his remarks. Falwell said that he only meant that the Antichrist must be Jewish because Jesus was a Jew.

I couldn't believe how badly Falwell had fumbled what should be an easy question to answer. The Antichrist will likely be Jewish because the Jews will not receive a Gentile as their promised Messiah.

Jesus predicted that Israel will someday foolishly receive the Antichrist as their saviour. "I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive"(John 5:43).

The Bible does hint that the Antichrist might have a Jewish background. In Dan 11:37 it says "Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers." Although the verse could mean any deity, the wording strongly matches Jewish heritage of faith in God.

Some of the earliest expounders of Antichrist, Irenaeus and Hippolytus of the second century, taught that Antichrist would be a Jew. " It seems clear that the bishop," McGinn says of Irenaeus, " depended on earlier traditions, both Jewish and Christian, in claiming that Antichrist would be born a Jew, specifically from the tribe of Dan." [3] Hippolytus, a disciple of Irenaeus, wrote extensively on the Antichrist. Hippolytus believed that " Antichrist is a Jewish false messiah whose coming is still some time in the future." [4] Origen, Chrysostom, Jerome, and likely Augustine all continued the early church tradition that the Antichrist was to be of Jewish descent.[5] The tradition of a Jewish Antichrist, who would likely be of the tribe of Dan, was reinforced throughout the middle ages.

The Christian anti-christ also claims he is God - something that is an act of apostasy for a Muslim -let alone an Imam

that was interesting I didn't know that.
But I believe that anything that doesn't profess Christ as the messiah is false religion. This is what religion Satan has.
Satan is nothing but a fallen angel and as such knows better than anyone that his time is short. He also knows that Jesus Christ will set up his kingdom over this earth shortly.
Psalms 37:9,10,11 tells what will happen. He was quoting that when he said the meek will inherit the earth. Psalms 37:29 says the earth will be here forever.
So when that happens Revelation 20 says Satan will be put in the abyss. Or out of commission for 1000 years.
Then we will have 1000 years of peace.

I've never heard of any of that. As far as I know, only the Shia Muslims believe in the twelve imams. Also, Muslims believe Jesus is the Messiah.

Muslims do also believe in the antichrist. The arabic word for it is "dajjal." I seriously doubt the twelfth imam is the antichrist.

Dear Stacey,
I really do not know too much about the Islamic faith, but this person does sound like he could be a candidate for the anti-Christ.

The antiChrist is anybody who is "anti - Christ" which actually refers to a lot of people who CALL themselves Christians but don't actually follow his teachings.

Quit worrying about demons behind every door and who is or is not the Anti-Christ. 'Tis far more wisdom to use that time to cultivate altruistic minds and obey Christ's teachings if you're Christian.

Sounds like a candidate for the Antichrist to me. Anyone who seeks to destroy Israel isn't operating in the Spirit of the God of Jacob.

Very interesting information, Stacey. Thanks for asking this.

I agree with you vinslave. Sounds like 'newspaper eschatology' to me.

So many are worried and study about the 'end times' that it is a distraction to learning and applying the principles that we are to be using day to day.
