Children before puberty and the mentally ill are exempt from fasting, meaning they don't have to do it and they don't have to make it up.
Everyone else is required to fast. Those who are physically unable are excused, but do have to make it up, either by fasting the same number of days missed at a later date, or by feeding a poor person once for each day missed.

People do not "Have" to fast in Ramadan. It is a choice old people do fast as do children after the age of puberty. Children under the age of puberty practice and try to fast a few days here and there it does them no harm and if they find it too hard they can eat its not a problem. What do you consider old? Some one of 79 can still fast if they are in good health. People exempt from fasting are pregnant women, breastfeeding women and people who are too ill to fast or if you are traveling you can break your fast and make the days up at a later time. Does that answer your question?

Once your able to fast, and not ill, not on medication, yes, children can participate once there old enough to understand the religion and its means, and older people usually do it anyway, since there the ones that drives the middle age people to fast, and Ramadan is the time of the year that Muslims look forward to all year long, so when it comes around they are the happiest people out.

No i'm no longer - and what a ask your self - i'm no longer the only one that thinks this has no longer something to do with Ramadan - yet that doesn't provide you the final to be downright rude to human beings considering the fact which you do unlike what they say - that may no longer often woman-like behaviour - yet then -

Not children, Older people should, but if they have to medicines and stuff then they do not have too. Rather they have to feed a poor person for every fast they miss.

I think young kids, the sick, elderly and of course, pregnant chicks are exempt from the fast. They can participate in the religious festivities though.

There is a certain age at which one begins to observe the fasting rules and if they're (Muslims) ill they don't have to fast, with the opportunity to make it up later.

Only people in sufficient good health are required to fast. If it endangers their well being they are excused.
