Good luck to you. I elected not to get it done. Friends who did got back to nearly normal after about a year. It took physical therapy and work.

I would be interested if the doctor is putting in the Harrington Rod with the metal hooks to straighten the spine. this is a relatively new operation, with good results. The old operation concisted of a plaster cast (full body) from neck to hips. This did not do a good job and often the cast had to be removed because the patient developed pneumonia. The Harrington rod sometimes had to be slowly moved, this is different for different persons and depends on how much your spine is curved. Much of the result depends of you. Do exactly what your doctor tells you to do, therapy wise. There is some pain involved, in the bones, but nothing you have not already handled. And the result will be great. My neighbor had the operation and she was very pleased, changed her whole life. Good Luck to you.
