ok, this is more like a moral issue I have with myself. i just can't believe - about certain people - how I could even call them a God's child. yes, I have my own faults but still...and then I find asking myself what kind of God is that anyway if I can't accept certain people, sure, I can accept them but not like them, then how can I even talk about God. ok, this is really hard to explain but it makes me wonder about God as a parent, to put it in simplistic terms. and it also makes me feel like, if I feel so far away from certain people and their way of thinking and actions, it, in a sense, makes me think I'm far away from God too since he created them that way and that bothers me.
have you ever felt this way
thanx

I think I can help. Its kind of like this. If you were an adult, and adopted a teen, and that teen didnt "turn out right", would it be your fault? ok, that wasn't a very good analogy.
Saying God's child isn't like saying God is a parent. It means that He created them like He created everybody else. But He also created free will, which means that people have to choose for themselves how to act. He set the example by being perfect, but it is our choice how we act. Some people choose to act otherwise, while some act in ignorance.
If it helps, God created you just like He created them. The difference is that you are trying to obey God's laws. God is a personal God, always there for you. He loves you and he loves them (okay, that didnt help). He hates wha they are doing though. Yes God can hate. But its sin that He hates, not people.

God wants us to understand that we do not have all the facts about anyone. We don't even know ourselves. Remember if you are a Christian you must know that but for the Grace of God go I. Also it helps me to remember the job of judging others and their actions is God's and really it is a relief. We don't have to judge anyone other than ourselves and our thoughts and actions. That is much harder and painful so sometimes we look to others instead of dealing with our own problems.
Also remember that resentment of others only serves to hurt yourself and not them. Other people do not care really about how we feel about them.
Pray for these people who are bothering you. Pray that God will bless them and make you willing to forgive. Try it for two weeks and I'll bet that you will feel better. Resentment of others only takes away your joy.
Yes I have. Just this past weekend my husband was in a snit about money and was very abusive verbally toward me. I was so so mad and I told God that I guess I'll just go to Hell as I am never forgiving Him and what I want is to hurt him back. Because God is patient and loving and full of grace I no longer feel this way and feel pretty stupid for feeling it in the first place. We are all called to overcome our selfish natural selves by the Grace of God. We are new now.

See John 8:31-45 and Ephesians 2:1-10 for a better understanding of what the Bible teaches about whose children we are.
See also the entire First Letter (Epistle) of John.
Jesus said, "You must be born again" (John 3:7)

Well for one thing you are mixing up the fact that all have been created in the image of God and that not all are Gods children. We are taught by Jesus that there are wheat and tares. Also Jesus rebukes the Pharisees who claimed God was their Father when they rejected Him. So only those who are in Christ are truly the children of God. One other thing. This gives us a glimpse of Gods merciful love as He loved us while we were still His enemies.

All are God's children, everyone of us. Your lesson on this plane is to accept them for that, and not judge them. Because they are different then you, or do things differently then you, or because they do something that you do not, does not make them unacceptable in God's mind, only yours. This is a very hard lesson to learn, that one must not judge, regardless. No if's ands or buts. You may have disagreements with your brother (real brother) but you still love him. It is the same principle. The rain falls on everyone on earth, not just Christians or Jews or Buddhists. Same with the sun. God does not play favorites.

I know how you feel. There are a lot of people out there who hate their own siblings, who may behave badly but that doesn't make it right. Remember everyone has at least one good thing about them, and ask God to help you see them as brothers and sisters...

God doesn't make people the way they are. their love for God, or thought against God makes them how they are.
the Bible gives you a list of the people by the actions who are "without excuse". To be without excuse means that they did that theirselves. God did not make them bad, he gave them free will. Romans chapter 1

I understand what you're saying. We're commanded to love others, but nowhere are we commanded to like everyone. Unfortunately none of us is perfect & there are a lot of God's children that are hard to like, just as with everyone else. We are all a product of our decisions & choices, even people of faith.

If Christ is in your heart you will love people. When you see Christ in another person you will find it very easy to love them. But God whats us to love even our enemies. That is a tough one. Right? Ask Jesus to help you see people as He sees them, ask Him to give you His eyes to see people. I tell you though it can break your heart do ask this, because Christ view of others is very different than ours. You need to see folks through the eyes of Christ. Just ask.
