No, a CBC or a complete blood count, does not show HIV. A separate test has to be performed for HIV one specific for HIV.

A CBC can show if your white count is unusually high which is an indication of an infection process and if so, other tests can be run to determine where that infection is located.

a CBC will detect many things about your blood levels, but it can't check for HIV. endocarditis is an infection i think, and a CBC will look at the white blood cell count. if it's high, that indicates infection somewhere in your system. it also checks for things like anemia (through red blood cell count), and how much oxygen your blood is getting, but if you're concerned about HIV, please go get tested. it's the only way to find out for sure. there are tests out there now that do a mouth swab instead of a blood draw, and the results come back faster.
if you're afraid you've been infected, talk with your partner and get tested!

A CBC Blood test is a Complete Blood Count test. It ONLY counts blood cells. It is not a diagnostic test for a specific disease.

However, your white cell count may be elevated if HIV or endocarditis is present. It would also be elevated if any other infection were present. Therefore, a CBC test would not give a person any reason to suspect a specific disease in the absence of other symptoms. It only indicates whether further investigation is necessary.

I was under the impression that the WBC would be lowered because HIV is a viral and not bacterial......a high WBC shows infections thus bacterial rather than viral
