Ignore her dude. My mom was the same way but she wanted me to keep my hair long, and I didn't..I buzzed it off all the time.

This is a rhetorical question, right?
The answer would be to cut it........laughing....
Since that isn't on your list of options I suggest smiling sweetly at her (she has HER version of YOUR best interests in mind), and give her a kiss on the cheek and say, "I love you mom"... Wink at her and say "I'm hot mom" (or something like ), "it's the look mom" or, I've seen your teen pictures, heh heh" (if she has a sense of humor..... my mom wigged out on this one, took it as an insult) . Bring her flowers (even a small bouquet), give her a cute card that says how much you love her, kiss her on the cheek again....you will be amazed how it may disarm the situation. Point out to her that it is just a "look" and may be something totally different next time (if that is the case), styles and tastes change all the time........
You don't make it sound as if she is just plain being mean, so it sounds like something you can work through, and the ground work you lay now will help you when the next issue comes up. And there will be one...

Do you take care of your hair? Is she on your case just because you're a guy? Guys with long hair who don't comb it and wash it on a regular basis are gross, but guys with well kempt long hair are hot. Your mom is probably just old fashioned and doesn't like long hair on guys; she'll get over it or she wont'. I would stop worrying about it. My husband's mom has been torturing him about his hair for as long as I've known him and we've been married 13 years. Like I said stop worrying about.

Mom's and dad's will say that. My aunt used to never let my cousin Josh cut his hair but he likes to grow it out so it's big and curly and I think it looks good but lots of adults don't like the shaggy and long hair.

Sit your Mom down and talk to her. Tell her that you don't want to cut it , but that you will trim it. Trust me, just give a little-it won't be that long before you are out on your own and you can do what you want with your hair. Until then, "As long as you're under my roof, you'll do what I say"...........

Tell her that you understand that she doesn't care for your hair, but it upsets you when she says that you look like a rat. Ask her to refrain from making negative remarks. It's your hair.

Talk to her maybe the length isn't so much the problem as how neat it is. If the length is the problem, then i'm not sure what to tell ya...maybe a lil tiny trim
Just a suggestion

well, tell your mom that it's your hair and that as long as no one else cares it's ok

but if you don't want to talk back to your mom then just say...if i cut it can i dye it (color of your choice) ?

it worked with my parents :)
