Call your local social services and ask or the police department.

Every state has different laws.

I remember reading after 24-48 hours the parent can place a missing persons on them. (even knowing where they are)

best wishes

1st if the kid is 16 and leaves home and keeps calling home why did he or she runaway.2nd a runaway is considered a child who left home with no contact with the family but at 16 it is leagal to leave home and parents really cant fight to much of it nut why leave home unless there is abuse to struggle in a world on your own

A runaway most often doesn't contact the family they have run away from. It seems he's testing the boundaries and it's up to you to decide what is acceptable. At least he's safe and letting you know.

That is a run away. the child is under your care you are responsible for them till they are 18. YOu have to call the police if they do something that is illegle like breaking and entering you might have to pay for it cuase you were not supervising your children,Call the police and file a report. you do not know hwere the child is and can not contact them there fore they did run away. If they are caught the cops will arrest them and bring them hom.
