Hmm- Okay, the young gentleman should know that your friend needs her dog. Fortunately, great danes are short-haired dogs, and the one I met didn't shed much.

Your friend can make sure the dog is kept clean and groomed, and that the house is clean. And she might want an air cleaner to pull out any stray dander there might be.

And the young gentleman should talk with an allergist about treatments so he won't have reactions to the dog.

Good luck!

Antihistamines (such as reactin) will help the new man in her life combat his allergy's, and to help make things a little easier on both of them, making sure that the dog learns not to sleep on the bed or sit on fabric around the house will help to reduce hair and dander which is the leading cause of allergens from animals. Oh and making sure to keep everything really clean will help as well, the less dust in the air, the better!

Well I hope that helps, best of luck!

Your friends bf could go get allergy shots so he won't be so bothered by the dog.
