You're less restriced when breastfeeding, thankfully! Caffeine should be limited, but you of course can have a cup or two a day without a problem. As far as food, that all depends on your baby. If you ate spicy while pregnant, like me, your baby should be used to the taste. No reason not to eat your sushi if you like that!

While you are breastfeeding you have to be as careful with your food as you are now that you are pregnant. Your baby will get everything you eat trougth you. In fact i would say that you should try to keep the good habits, because after you stop breastfeeding your baby will be seing you, and getting all of your habits.
I am convinced that the best way to give good feeding to your children is that all the family tries to get the best habits they can, so the children will see them in their houses and won't ask.
Of course you can always take a break and have something you really want but in the weekend, maybe.
Red Bull is so bad, not only for your baby, but for you as well as an habit. Fish, i don't think is that bad, neither a cup of cofee un less you drink it all day long. But you migth talk to a nutriologist about it. Sushi is great food,i guess, for you and good for a child to learn to eat it, when is time, since kids are more susceptible to have alergies.

I don't know about raw fish--I think it's okay, but I would just check with your doctor.
There are a lot of opinions about caffeine during pregnancy and breastfeeding. I breastfeed my four-month-old, and I indulge in a Starbucks or two every week, not to mention the occasional chocolate bar, with no adverse side effects. My doctor told me that, during pregnancy/breastfeeding, you can have up to one or even two cups of coffee per day, tea, etc. with no harm to the baby.
It's also just a personal decision. I've talked to a few women who insist that their caffeine habit caused their baby to be hyper, fussy, and later, hyperactive, or even ADHD.
But my son is a very mellow baby, regardless of my caffeine intake. In my opinion, hyperactivity and mellowness alike are hereditary traits, and not affected by what the baby's mother eats and/or drinks.

Please be careful eating seafood, especially raw seafood when breastfeeding. There are large quantities of a posion called Mercury in seafood (the larger the fish usually the more toxic because they eat other smaller fish). Mercury has been known to affect the auto-immune system and can cause autism in babies. Also, I think it's good to stay away from things that the baby may be allergic to, such as nuts and shellfish. Hope this helps!

As a mom of 5 I can tell you don't go nuts!! Avoid the raw fish and limit caffeine alot!! Also, anything with alot of onions or garlic can make the milk taste bad to the baby... Now isn't the time to think about what YOU want... Do what's best for your baby
