Limewire itself doesn't mess up your computer, however all the crap you are gonna try to download probably will. Most things on limewire come with spyware attached or even worse, viruses.
Why would you want to open your PC up to the internet like that? That's like having sex with a hooker without a condom.
You can run limewire on any computer that will run windows.

Limewire itself does not mess up your computer but the files you are sure to download through it WILL!! It takes very little resources to run it.
