I'm a guy. If I get rejected, should I give it a few more tries? in like a few months...or if that doesn't work...in a year or so?

Don't move on, give her more time space and let let realize she was wrong! TIme changes things...just wait and see!

how were you rejected? did she flat out say "get lost" or "I'm not interested"? or did she turn you down for a date.
my first husband (we were married for 20 years, had 2 kids.... blah blah blah) anyways, he kept asking me out but at the last minute kind of asking me out and I kept turning him down because I had other plans. it wasn't that I wasn't interested, he just didn't plan far enough in advance.
are you doing a last minute (and I mean last minute as in within 24 hours of the requested date) asking out? maybe she's just really busy.
as to the waiting a few months or a year or so, you should just move on rather than wait that long. don't devote that much of your life waiting for someone hoping they'll come around to your way of thinking.
