Should we just not care?

I work with a lot of kids whose home life is less desireable, I care a great deal about that. I want them to learn as much as they can so they have a better life. For everyone who said, just teach them in school, you have no control over their life at home. But, that is like throwing them into a lions den and saying good luck.

Unfortunately that's all you can do other than to make their school experience really great. By doing just that you will encourage them to stay in school and give them the chance to "be something" after they graduate and are away from their bad situation.
