Why do people smoke cigarettes? How long does the buzz or whatever last? What are the differences between different cigarettes like brand or cost or taste? Why are certain brands more popular than the other? Would one cigarette a day really do that much damage? I really don't know anything at all.... fill me in?

I started smoking when i was 8 years old. Regular at 10.. I am now alot older. Smoking off and on. Doesnt really give me a high unless i havent smoked in a while then i get a little jittery and stuff. I can smoke when i want to now without having a real addiction. I smoke sometimes everynight some times not for two months. All depends on how i feel. I used to smoke Marlbaros. A pretty popular brand. not a very bad brand either. But now i smoke benson and hedges. Alot smoother. If i were you i wouldnt start unless you were understanding the dependancy part of it. some people NEED it some people dont once they start. Also look at your surroundings. If you have a baby, wheither anyone around you smokes. The enviorments around you allow smoking? Alot of places now dont allow it making you go out side or out back etiher exposing you to dangers outside, rain, or cold. Who will join you outside? If you arent in a smoking enviorment then you may be alone in everything. It makes you clothes smell bad and everything. if you wear purfumes, cologne, etc. Things dont have much taste, The list goes on. Along with the costs, health problems, and everything they pretty much add up bad, but its all in how you perceive it. I can smoke or not. So i go either way. Ive seen alot people close to me die from it and a mix of other things. It all goes on and on. Well hoope it helped

To actually answer your question...A lot of people smoke to help calm their nerves. There really isn't a buzz after you've smoke for a while, it's just returning to normal. If you don't smoke for a while you get agitated and jittery. It's called going through withdrawal. There is a difference of taste in cheaper cigs, they have a stale taste to them sometime. One cigarette can do damage to you and you probably wouldn't stay at one. The addiction will grow on you. Everyone starts out a casual smoker, no on goes in saying "hey, I'm going to smoke 2 packs a day and give myself lung cancer and burn my money up in flames".

It's an awful habit that I wish I had never started. So, don't you start. If you like going out in the rain, not being able to sit through a movie because you start having a nicotine fit, smelling like smoke, having people sneer at you, and always needing money to feed your habit, then, by all means, try them. If not, stay far, far away from them.

I don't know but rather than try and get addicted, lick an ashtray and stick your head in a chimney and breathe, and notice people's reactions as you do!

PS my mom is a heavy smoker and the house stinks so badly that when I go visit for even five minutes I can't get rid of the smell until I change clothes and shower. She spends $300 a month on this habit. She also has to wear a "diaper" because she coughs so hard she has incontinence. Still want to try smoking?

Nicotine is addictive, look under truth.com. cigarettes and alcohol are legal drugs in the US. How good could something be if it can kill someone who is not even smoking just sitting in the room with it? My neighbor divorced her husband(for other reasons) but he had smoked for the 20 yrs they were together. She now has lung cancer and never smoked a day in her life. Great parting gift!

its bad for you because it contains things that are in toilet cleaners. its worse than licking the sidewalk. its like licking an ashtray. actually if u kiss someone who smokes it IS like licking an ashtray i heard. people smoke because they think it makes them look good and attractive.....it doesn't. Its hard for them to stop because of the nicotine addiction which is also in cigs. Cigs have tar in them i cup per pack or something like that. That tar goes to ur lungs everytime you smoke. I don't really know why the brands matter, i guess its cus of competition, every company wants to do better than the other, whether its better quality or lower price. my advice, don't smoke, don't kiss someone who smokes and don't lick the sidewalk!!!! you know how many germs are on a sidewalk....ALOT! Cigs have over 4,000 harmful chemicals. Don't listen to all the positive things people say about it, its not safe, maybe it is true, but once addicted....hard to stop

I've smoked a cigarette before and I never really got anything out of it. I don't know, maybe other people are so psychologically weak that some drug like nicotine is able to control their minds.

I tried it a couple of times and it never did anything for me except leave a horrible after taste. I glad for that because I did not get hooked.

It is like death. horrible taste and smell. and it works to kill you. even people that do smoke tell they wish they didn't. it is an addiction. my whole family smoke excepts me. fortunately i burned my tongue when i first tried. cigarettes are just like alcohol, an acquired taste. they are nasty, but a select few grow to like it.
